It's time to check your cyber health!
As we pass the mid-point of the year, it’s time to step back and look at our cyber defenses. Lasco is focusing on the importance of Cyber Security even more than usual for the remaining months. With new “0” Day attacks occurring, and ransomware ratcheting up, it is more important than ever to have heightened awareness. We’ll be heading into the holiday season soon, and it’s a good time to get prepared. Think of it as a mid-year health assessment. You need to be aware of what threats are out there and how you can defend against them.
For Lasco’s part in heightening awareness, we are partnering with Michigan Banker’s Association to host an in-person cyber symposium for community banks in both the Upper and Lower Peninsulas in October. We’ll be putting out registration information soon.
We also continue to hold our quarterly virtual cyber roundtables. They are a great way to hear what challenges other banking professionals are facing and how they deal with them, and to get the most current information on cyber security. If you haven’t yet attended one, add them to your list! They’re free for you to join and are an hour of very important information.
Providing security awareness training for our clients, their employees, and their board of directors, continues to be a goal for Lasco.
To further understand the AI landscape, Lasco has started an internal AI Committee to review in more depth the benefits AI can bring to our business model, such as providing efficiencies in the workplace, and where threats can enter the landscape.
Threat Monitoring becomes ever more critical as we watch the world revolving around us. You should be monitoring cyber threats on a regular basis in order to see how you can best protect yourself against cyber-attacks.
Microsoft 365 Hardening (the process of implementing best practices and the right security measures) is becoming a crucial step to ensure you’re doing all you can to protect your data and your infrastructure. This is a crucial part of your cyber health.
To stop cyber-attacks, the need for continuous vulnerability scanning can’t be stressed enough. But it’s not the end-all-be-all. You also need to go that extra step and do the remediation and fix those vulnerabilities before one of them becomes your worst nightmare.
